NewseumNow is a different interface for the Newseum website. It presents "Today's Front Pages" as a long table of large images, with hyperlinks to the PDF versions.
It might be easier to just take a look at the site to get an idea of it.
NEW! Random Page: Go here to receive a random front page image. The file is pretty big, and the randomization all occurs client-side, so it may take a while to load and reload. But give it a whirl.
Of course, I suppose I should take a moment to explain what everything is. The big image reflects the day's front page of a particular newspaper. The narrow list of hyperlinked numbers to the right of that are links to the month's PDFs. If today is, say, the 17th, and you want the PDF version of the front page you're looking at, just click on the 17. If you click on the 16, you'll (probably) get the PDF for yesterday. Unsurprisingly, clicking on the 18 doesn't (usually) get you tomorrow's newspaper.
I absolutely love the concept of Newseum. However, I find the interface awkward to use. The mouseovers are too finicky, and the preview images are too small. I'm sure it's great if you already know which newspaper you're looking for, but I like to browse over all of them, looking for random items of interest.
This site is basically just a set of hyperlinks into the existing Newseum site. None of the images or PDFs are locally hosted -- they all live on the Newseum site. I'm sorry if this site is sometimes slow, but there's very little I can do about it.
I rebuild the indices every once in a while. They were last built on Thursday, December 21, 2006 (with 358 front pages.)
This site should be considered "in beta."
